Written by Deirdre Leonard

The International Judo Federation has worked on the new regulations and published them 9th December 2016. They will apply for the next Olympic cycle. The goal is to promote the rules of judo and make them easier to understand, as well as to simplify them. The purpose of these rules is to give priority to the attack and to the realization of IPPON. A final document will be prepared and published before the end of the year.

The Irish Judo Association is sending Mr David Holmes (Refereeing Chair) and Mr Ciaran Ward (High Performance Director) to the IJF Coach & Referee Seminar in Baku, Azerbijan on the 6th & 7th January 2017. Both David & Ciaran will be making a joint Coach & Referee Presentation for Coaches & Referees following their return - date & venue to be confirmed after they return to Ireland.
