Irish Judo Association numbers were better represented than previous
years, thanks to the Samurai Uladh Judo Club.

Paul Green - Samurai Uladh (M1-100kg) won his two fights decisively
with ippon scores, using osoto-makikomi and juji-gatame to take the Gold.
Tony McLaughlin - Samurai Uladh (M3-81kg) won two fights out of his category,
one by ippon, lost two and took a Bronze. Manus O’Donaill - Samurai Uladh (M4-66kg)
fought hard and bravely, as usual, but had the misfortune to be in a category made
up either 3rd or 4th Dan Grades and missed out on a medal.

Dublin was represented by Donal Tannam Daigokan/Wild Geese(M4-66kg) who won his
four fights by ippon with hiza guruma (left and right),ippon seoinage and kusure
kami-shiho gatame. Donal was delighted to pick up 30 points towards his 4th Dan
as well as the Gold.

Another good showing for the Irish Judo Masters Squad at this annual event.

A special mention to Paul McConville (Irish Army) of NIJF, who trains occasionally
with Harry McGuigan(Irish Masters Squad Coach). Paul ended the Dan Grading which
followed the Competition with the unofficial throw of the day, an air-borne harai goshi,
worth 10 points towards his 5th Dan. He also took Silver in the Tournament.
